glow rituals

RITUAL: a series of actions or type of behavior regularly and invariably followed by someone. This is everything. Here are some that are a must for me right now & how I flow my day!

sunday ritual

This is something brand new I’m starting because there’s something about Sunday’s and the sacredness of them. For me, I think of this on a self-care / glowing health level & how to set the body up to thrive in the coming week. And that’s where this combo comes in!

Dry brush

I have a whole blog post here on how to do it, but it essentially gets your lymph moving (which is getting toxins out of your body and into your blood to be removed from the body), but the lymph needs some help with movement and dry brushing is very effective for this. Plus, it helps with cellulite too!

movement

Now that your pores have been opened with dry brushing, it’s time to start sweating it (the toxins) out! Movement is also good for moving the lymph system too, so you’re just building off the foundation you’ve set. And don’t forget the endorphins from exercise itself. I love barre-esque workouts and lifting weights! 30-45 mins.

sauna

I absolutely LOVE using our sauna, not just for this ritual, but in general to reduce all cause mortality. After movement, this really encourages toxins OUT of the body. Try sitting in here while your coffee cools down & chill for at least 15-30mins. This would be an optimal time to also double down on some reading. Habit stacking at its finest!

enema

Final step is coffee enema. I try to do this for 10-15 mins, depending on how I’m feeling that day. You produce SO much glutathione from this which is your master antioxidant (to help with all sorts of stuff) and literally sweeps toxins out. This is the one I own + this coffee to use with it.

cuppa glowing goodness

This is the blend I sip for caffeine-free goodness. It’s a chocolate oasis of feeling good! Feel free to swap in coffee if you prefer, and make the rest the same! (I’ve linked up all the products below + have some promos for you!). This recipe is always evolving, so I’ll try to update it as I sip it!

  • 1.5 cups Original Rasa or 2 cups of your fave organic coffee or 50/50 blend

  • 1 tbsp of coconut oil

  • 1 scoop Sakara Metabolism Super Powder

  • 1 tbsp Rasa Crème de Creamer

  • 1-2 tbsps of plant-based collagen: Moon Juice collagen protect or/and Your Super Plant Collagen

  • 1/2 tsp Moon Juice Brain Dust or Power Dust

  • a splash of oat milk (I love the brand Malk—no nasty gums or additives) or homemade cashew+oat milk

Directions: Steep Rasa or coffee in a French press for 5-15 mins. Pour into a nice big mug or a Yeti Tumbler, then add your powders + milk and use a milk frother to blend all together.

See all products below (+ use code XOGLOWWITHCHAR for 20% off your first Sakara order or $15 off your first Moon Juice order over $70)! Happy Sipping!

Mornings

 right upon rising

It’s SO vital what you do with this time when you first wake. There are still things I want to add to this routine (see the notes below), but also check out the musts for me as I awake from my slumber.

  • Make the bed. The easiest + simplest way to get your day started on the right foot.

  • Meditate (if time permits). I don’t beat myself up if I can’t get to it in the mornings (because helloooo parenting & hustlin’), but if I can, I like to use Insight Timer or music in my Apple Music library. I basically roll out of bed, sit on the ground beside it & search for “morning meditations” and pick the one that feels right in that moment. I aim for 5 mins (10 if I’m lucky), just so I do it!

  • Take a few deep belly breaths. How I like to explain how I do this is: You breathe in and expand your stomach out (don’t be afraid to let it puff out—mine definitely can look like I’m preggers), while feeling like you’re forcing the air and puffing out the front of the stomach and down to the lowest possible point of your stomach. Your whole abdominal cavity should feel full. Then breathe it all out, THROUGH THE NOSE. I know there are a lot of misconceptions, but breathing out through the nose is the most cleansing way to breathe out.

  • Tongue scrape. This is something I feel weird not doing anymore! It takes 2 seconds to do & your oral health will thank you (so will I!). This is the one I use, but also consider getting a copper one!

  • Reach for my beautifying essential oils + roll on my face. My ‘go to’ is normally Rose because it carries the highest vibration of all the oils, but I also like Helichrysum or a blend called Immortelle.

NOTES FOR MY FUTURE SELF: When you first wake, you’re still in that dream-like state, which is such a good time to:

  • Journal (in general) and write from the heart before the conscious thoughts + garbage swoop in.

  • Journal about your dreams (whether it be interpretations or just getting them on paper before you forget).

  • Write out 3 things you’re grateful for.

I definitely don’t do the journaling bit yet (and don’t always get to the meditation bit in my routine too thanks to a toddler!), but it’s definitely something I want to incorporate on that initial wake-up. Hold me to it 😉

rehydrate

Upon waking, we are in a dehydrated state (since the obvious being we weren’t taking in water all night while we were sleeping), so after doing the ‘upon rising’ things above, this is the NEXT step when I head to the kitchen:

  • 1 liter of slightly warmed water (3/4 full with room temp reverse osmosis water + the last 1/4 with water I’ve heated up in the kettle)

  • 1/2 organic lemon, squeezed into water

  • 1-2 droppers of fulvic + humic trace minerals

Drink before anything else (including coffee!) or before you eat anything. This is a great way to make sure you’re starting the day HYDRATED! If 1 liter seems like too much, then start with 1, 2, 3 cups and work up. Cheers!

right before bed

I’ve been doing some version of this next & last routine of the day since October 2020. It’s so engrained in me now that I’d feel weird to not do it.

Before getting into bed, I pop headphones in my ears and…

  • Stretch. In Feb 2022 I got in the habit of before crawling into bed, doing 5-15 mins of stretching (basics like down dog, cat/cow, straddle + splits, pigeon, hip openers, etc) so I can work on my flexibility and mobility as I age!🤪

  • Sit on the ground beside the bed and listen to a guided meditation or singing bowls and do my own meditation. I do this for anywhere from 5-10 mins (but sometimes less if I’m super sleepy)!

  • Then I crawl into bed and either put on a To Be Magnetic DI (deep imagining) or listen to affirmations or high Htz music while falling asleep to them.

  • I’ll also sometimes read eBooks (on Scribd) on my phone after meditation to get in some additional reading in while I get a bit more sleepy. I do this once I’m in bed & read for 5-10 mins. I’ve been diving into some spiritual books along with nutrition + holistic ones!

and that is it! xo

evening retreat

This routine has become my little slice of heaven each night as Fife goes to sleep.

  • Turn on sauna (we have a Luminati by SaunaSpace)

  • Either dry skin brush or just wait for sauna to heat up.

  • Hop in sauna & journal for first 5-10 mins (or until I become a sweaty mess and I’m forced to stop!🤣)

  • Read, browse or do whatever in the remaining time ending with a few deep breaths.

  • Dry body off with towel, then hop in the shower.
